Step 0 for Windows 7 only: Windows 7 (or other 64-bit systems) requires that you first download and install the free VMware Player. Follow the online instructions to set up a pre-Windows 7 virtual system, download or copy the HWA.exe file to the virtual system hard drive, then continue with Steps 2-6 within the virtual system. The 16-bit Searchable Archive will always have to be run using the VMware Player virtual system. Note: You will need a pre-Windows 7 installation disk (any back to Windows 98), and you may create a minimal 1 or 2 gb system. No extra service packs are needed for the virtual system.
Step 1: Download the HWA.exe file from the web site to your hard drive. Note: this is just the Searchable Archive and not the full contents of the Searchable Archive CD.
Step 2: Run the HWA.exe file, usually by double-clicking on it.
Step 3: Change the destination directory, if desired, or allow installation into the default C:\HWA directory.
Step 4: Once installed, simply double-click on the RTW.EXE file in the HWA directory to run the Searchable Archive. You can create a shortcut on your desktop which points to the RTW.EXE file for quick start-up.
Step 5: Read the CONTENTS and MANUAL files in the HWA directory on how to use the program. Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or problems.
Step 6: You will need to periodically delete the following temporary files out of the HWA directory as they are created each time you do a search:
